Do you ever look at your professional skills, the ones you use every day in the office, the clinic, or the bank, and wonder if they could do something... more? Something that changes lives?
At Cancer Eradicators, we believe that cancer picked the WRONG TEAM. We are a passionate group of volunteers dedicated to one major goal: ending cancer through our support of the UT MD Anderson Cancer BootWalk. But to make the biggest impact possible, we need more than just passion. We need your expertise.
We are officially looking for new members to join our Board of Directors. Whether you're a numbers whiz, a healthcare hero, or a community connector, we have a seat at the table for you.
Why We Do What We Do: The MD Anderson BootWalk
Before we dive into the roles, let’s talk about why we’re so fired up. The U T MD Anderson BootWalk is one of the most powerful cancer awareness events out there. It’s a 1.2-mile walk where we literally "give cancer the boot."
The best part? 100% of participant-raised funds go directly to MD Anderson’s mission of research, patient programs, prevention, and education. When you help us with fundraising for cancer research, you aren't just hitting a target, you are funding the next breakthrough.
Our mantra is simple: WE WALK. WE FIGHT. WE WIN. We aren't just a team; we're a movement. And every movement needs a strong leadership core.
We Need Your Skills: Open Board Positions
We are looking for dedicated individuals to fill five key roles. We don’t just need hands; we need hearts and minds that are ready to tackle cancer fundraising head-on.
1. Treasurer
Requirement: Expertise in Banking. If you know your way around a ledger and have a background in the banking industry, we need you. As our Treasurer, you’ll be the financial steward of our team. You’ll manage our budget, ensure our cancer research donations are handled with the utmost integrity, and help us plan our financial strategy for the upcoming charity walk for cancer.
2. Healthcare Director
Requirement: Experience in Medicine. We are fighting a medical battle, so we need a medical perspective. If you are a doctor, nurse, researcher, or healthcare administrator, your insight is invaluable. You’ll help us stay informed on the latest developments in the field and help explain the impact of our work to the broader community.
3. Fundraising Director
Requirement: Background in Nonprofits and Fundraising. This role is the engine of our team. We need someone who knows how to raise money for cancer effectively. If you have experience in the nonprofit sector, you’ll help us design our fundraising for cancer research campaigns, build corporate partnerships, and guide our members toward their goals.
4. Secretary
Organization is the backbone of any successful team. As Secretary, you’ll keep us on track. From managing meeting minutes to maintaining our official records, you ensure that the Cancer Eradicators run like a well-oiled machine.
5. Community Relations Director
We are a community-first organization. We need someone to be our "boots on the ground" (pun intended!). You’ll help us organize cancer community events, manage our social media presence, and keep our supporters engaged and inspired.
What It’s Like to Be a Cancer Eradicator

When you join us, you’re joining a team that shows up. You might see us at a local park, or you might see our themed Jeep Wranglers rolling through town, decked out in deep purple, navy blue, and vibrant red, reminding everyone that we are here to fight.
We keep it casual, we keep it simple, and we keep it moving. We know that the journey to support cancer research is long, but we have a lot of fun along the way. Whether we’re lacing up our leather boots with purple laces or planning our next big event, the energy is always high because we know we are winning.
