What to Wear to Bags & Bingo Night: Boots, Purple, and Community Spirit

Cancer Eradicators Bags & Bingo event flyer featuring purple accents and event details

Getting dressed for a fundraiser should be easy, casual, and fun. For Bags & Bingo Night, the best outfit is one that helps you feel comfortable, festive, and ready for a welcoming evening of bingo, connection, and supporting the fight against cancer.

The event welcomes men and women, and everyone who wants to gather with a caring community. There is no formal dress code, and you do not need a special outfit to belong. Wear what makes you feel comfortable, move easily, and enjoy the night.

If you want to lean into the Cancer Eradicators spirit, this is your chance to wear your favorite boots and show them off. Walking shoes are just as welcome. Add a touch of Radiant Purple, Energetic Red, or Luminous Navy, an awareness ribbon, or another personal detail that reflects hope and heart.

WE WALK. WE FIGHT. WE WIN.

Whether you attend with friends, family, colleagues, or members of your medical or community organization, your presence helps make this event possible, with net proceeds after event expenses are paid going to support the UT MD Anderson Cancer BootWalk.

Start with comfort

Bingo night includes time at tables, conversation, and moving around the venue, so your outfit should make all of that easy.

Consider starting with:

  • Comfortable jeans, chinos, trousers, or a relaxed skirt
  • A soft blouse, polo, button-down, sweater, or favorite T-shirt
  • A casual dress that allows easy movement
  • A lightweight jacket, cardigan, or overshirt for changing temperatures
  • Fabrics that feel good for several hours of sitting and socializing

There is no need to dress formally unless that is what makes you feel best. A polished casual outfit can be just as festive as something playful or laid-back. The goal is not to meet a dress requirement. It is to enjoy a meaningful, fun night with people who care about ending cancer.

Above all, wear what makes you feel comfortable, welcome, and ready for an evening of bingo, connection, and supporting the UT MD Anderson Cancer BootWalk.

Wear your favorite boots: or your favorite walking shoes

If you have a favorite pair of boots, this is a great night to wear them and show them off. Boots are a natural fit for the Cancer Eradicators because they connect our team to the UT MD Anderson Cancer BootWalk, and they can add a fun, personal touch to your look.

Try:

  • Brown or black leather boots with jeans
  • Ankle boots with trousers or a casual dress
  • Western-inspired boots with a simple top
  • Flat or low-heeled boots for extra comfort
  • Clean sneakers or supportive walking shoes if those are your preferred footwear

You do not have to wear boots to be part of the spirit of the event. Supportive flats, sneakers, loafers, or other comfortable shoes are completely appropriate. If you plan to walk through the venue, stand to visit with others, or simply want to stay comfortable from 6:00 to 9:30 PM, choose footwear you already know works for you.

The main idea is simple: wear what feels good, have fun with it, and let your personality shine. Favorite boots, walking shoes, festive touches, and optional colors or ribbons all fit right in.

Add a touch of Radiant Purple

Purple is a meaningful way to show support for cancer awareness and the Cancer Eradicators mission. You can wear a lot or a little. There is no wrong way to add color.

Ideas include:

  • A purple shirt, blouse, sweater, or cardigan
  • Purple socks or a scarf
  • A purple tie, pocket square, or hat
  • Purple earrings, bracelets, or another favorite accessory
  • A purple ribbon pin
  • A purple detail on a neutral outfit

If purple is not your usual color, use a small accent with denim, white, gray, black, or navy. If you love bold color, make purple the centerpiece of your look.

You can also incorporate Energetic Red or Luminous Navy as complementary accents. A red bracelet, navy jacket, awareness ribbon, or colorful accessory can help you create an outfit that feels festive while staying connected to the Cancer Eradicators visual identity.

Show community spirit with a ribbon or personal touch

The most memorable outfits often include something personal. Consider wearing a cancer awareness ribbon, a team shirt, a meaningful piece of jewelry, or an accessory that reminds you why you support the cause.

Your personal touch might honor:

  • A loved one who has faced cancer
  • A survivor in your life
  • A caregiver or medical professional
  • A friend, family member, or colleague
  • Your own reason for joining the fight

You could coordinate one color or accessory with your group, but matching is not required. Community spirit does not mean everyone has to look alike. It means showing up for one another.

A room filled with different styles, stories, and generations can represent exactly what the cancer fight requires: people bringing their individual strength together for a shared purpose.

Outfit ideas for every style

Relaxed and classic

Pair jeans with a comfortable blouse, polo, knit top, or button-down. Add boots or walking shoes and finish with a purple ribbon, scarf, or bracelet.

Casual with a little polish

Try chinos or trousers with a collared shirt, lightweight sweater, or casual jacket. Luminous Navy or Energetic Red accents can add color without making the outfit feel formal.

Dressy-casual

A comfortable midi or knee-length dress with boots, flats, or supportive shoes creates an easy evening look. Add a cardigan or simple jewelry if you would like an extra layer.

Comfort-first

Choose soft pants, relaxed denim, a favorite top, and dependable shoes. Add a colorful accessory or awareness ribbon to make the outfit feel festive.

Team-ready

Wear a Cancer Eradicators or cancer-awareness shirt with jeans, boots, or sneakers. This is a simple way to make your support visible and start conversations about why you are attending.

No matter your style, there is room for it here. Festive, casual, colorful, simple, boots, walking shoes, ribbons, or personal touches all fit the spirit of the night. Come as you are and make the outfit your own.

Keep the evening practical

A few small choices can make the night more comfortable:

  • Bring a light layer in case the venue feels cool.
  • Choose shoes you can comfortably wear for several hours.
  • Avoid clothing that restricts movement or requires constant adjusting.
  • Carry essentials in a small crossbody bag, clutch, or pocket-friendly option.
  • Consider leaving bulky accessories at home so you can comfortably enjoy the table and conversation.
  • If you wear a ribbon, pin, or statement accessory, make sure it feels secure.

The best outfit is one you can forget about once the evening begins.

What your attendance supports

Bags & Bingo Night is one part of a larger community effort. The Cancer Eradicators Team raises funds in support of the UT MD Anderson Cancer BootWalk, which benefits UT MD Anderson Cancer Center’s work in research, treatment, and care.

For this event, net proceeds after event expenses are paid go to support the UT MD Anderson Cancer BootWalk. This means the event helps raise support for the mission, while not implying that all gross ticket or sponsorship revenue is donated directly.

At the time of publication, the Cancer Eradicators team page reports $270 raised toward a $10,000 goal: 3% of the goal. Every ticket purchase, donation, conversation, and shared invitation helps move that mission forward.

You can learn more about the Cancer Eradicators mission or support the team through the UT MD Anderson fundraising page.

Businesses, community organizations, medical groups, and hospitals can also help extend the impact. Current sponsorship opportunities listed for Bags & Bingo include:

  • Bingo Champion : $1,500
  • Community Table Sponsor : $900, including a table for eight
  • Signature Bag Sponsor : $500

Review the available sponsorship opportunities and help bring more people together around the fight to end cancer.
